Experiences seem to vary with the range of the transmitter. Some had problems at 200ft but others found the system worked great even at 400 ft with no false alarms from animals or children.

At greater distance placement of the receiver is important. If there is an object in line of sight the unit may not work.

Care is needed when installing the alarm. It is wrong to install the batteries, then set the sensor. You would be better advised to place everything, then install the batteries. The receiver unit "calibrates" itself upon power up. If the batteries are installed first it will not calibrate correctly in position and could cause false alarms or detection failures.

Any problems try removing and replacing the batteries so the unit recalibrates. The unit should then work great with a respectable range and with very few false alarms.

The monitor itself is a tube you bury several inches deep beside the driveway. It has a long enough cord, which can also be buried to enable the transmitter to be located somewhere hidden such as in shrubbery.

Since it is triggered by the metal in vehicles, no more false signals from deer or other animals in the middle of the night. This is an awesome product! You could have a problem with having the unit set up in the best way but then it works well and far better than any Infrared option.
